Welcome to Tewksbury
Arcadian living in a prosperous pastoral township.
Tucked into the rolling hills of rural New Jersey lies the township of Tewksbury. The town’s rural landscape and small-town charm belie that it rests a mere 50 miles west of New York City and all its metropolitan hustle and bustle. For those who call Tewksbury home, the quiet neighborhoods, the abundance of farms, and excellently kept equestrian stables provide a scenic backdrop to the many large homes and estates owned by affluent residents. Tewksbury is one of the few New Jersey townships that genuinely lives up to its pastoral reputation, with very little distracting from the primary purpose of the town crop and livestock farming. However, despite the simplistic lifestyle of many Tewksbury residents, this has not discouraged affluent families and individuals from building magnificent homes in and around the town.
Initially inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans, English and German settlers later turned much of the land into fertile farm grounds. Today, Tewksbury is renowned as the hometown of both Gerard and Eileen Ford, founders of the globally acclaimed Ford Models.

Local Lifestyle
Tewksbury is a rural community through and through. Most residents are incredibly laidback, and time seems to move at its own pace in this quaint, historic town.
Despite the abundance of farms, which is how many Tewksbury residents make a living, there are several high-net-worth families and individuals who call the township home. They typically live in secluded mansions in the quietest parts of town and enjoy the small-town community atmosphere where everyone truly knows everyone.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Despite its rural setting, there is still much to see and do in Tewksbury. A visit to the
Tewksbury Inn is a common local pastime as the historic institution offers upscale American cuisine in the venue’s rustic yet swanky tavern. In nearby Bedminster, the
Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club offers private access to three magnificently kept private golf courses, tennis courts, a state-of-the-art pool complex, a fitness center, and an upscale clubhouse in a picturesque stone building.
For lovers of magic and witchcraft, the nearby historic district of Oldwick is home to
The Magic Shop, which is filled to the brim with all things fairies and magical wonders. And, for all your seafood and fresh produce needs, head to
Metropolitan Seafood, which offers excellent quality specialty groceries, a delicious takeout menu, and professional catering for any event that may need it.
Things to Do
Tewksbury is nestled into the heart of horse country, and as such, equestrian pursuits are typical for most residents.
The Ridge is a full-service hunting and showjumping farm owned by Olympic Show Jumper Nona Garson. The facility caters to everyone from first-time riders to seasoned equestrians looking to take their skills to the next level. Another landmark of the township's pastoral roots is Melick’s Town Farm, which stretches over 300 acres and is one of the biggest fruit growers in New Jersey. Their farm stall in Oldwick provides Tewksbury residents and surrounding townships and boroughs with farm-to-table produce unlike anything purchasable from a regular supermarket. And for those in search of a good old-fashioned farm-style celebration, the annual
Tewksbury Harvest Festival brings live music, craft vendors, food trucks, and a beer garden to town for every member of the family to enjoy.
Schools
Tewksbury has a few excellent schools catering to the families who call the township home. One such institution, the
Somerset Hills Learning Institute, caters to children with autism and is one of the highest-ranked schools in the area.
